Red Hook: The Small Town with a Big Heart

The Town of Red Hook Senior Services Committee had dedicated time and talent to create a postcard to inform our local Senior Citizens about the Red Hook Community Center Open House, on Saturday, April 22nd.

The Town Board had budgeted funds to pay for printing and postage costs, so that our area seniors, especially those who are not on computers, regularly, would receive a glossy invitation to the event. Due to unforeseen
complications with the print shop, we got the postcards on Thursday, and
many of our SSC members were traveling out of town on Friday, to be with
family over the holiday weekend. We had nearly 2000 stamps, address labels
and postcards, but only 2-3 people to get stamps and address labels on the
cards, which had to go out the next day.

SSC members, and Town Board liason, Sarah Imboden, got the word out, and the very next day we ended up with a lively group of 12 volunteers, who, with the sustenance of donut holes and coffee got the job done in less than one hour! Thank you all for saving the day!
