RE: Town of Red Hook to Receive Grant Funding for Clean Energy Transportation Solution
It is with great pleasure that I share with you notification from NYS Department of Transportation that our Federal Grant to transport seniors and individuals with physical challenges by all electric passenger vans is recommended for funding. For the last few years, members of these underserved populations have reached out to my office to ask for assistance in getting around our community. This grant for $107,000, along with incentives from New York State and matching funds from the Ascienzo Family Foundation, will make it possible for all our residents to achieve greater mobility and participation. Many thanks to Sarah Imboden and Anne Rubin who prepared the grant.
This initiative will work well with our existing charging stations here at Town Hall, installed in the Spring of 2017. It’s only fitting that we can make this announcement during National Drive Electric week; converting to an all-electric vehicle can often have the greatest emission reduction for a household. Look for events throughout the week, including this weekend at Marist College.
