E-Waste Collection Scheduled for January 19th

E-Waste Collection Jan. 19

The Town of Red Hook will hold an electronic waste (e-waste) collection on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Recycling Center (21 Glen Pond Drive) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents are invited to bring electronic waste, including screen items, general office electronics, and home electronics, with the exception of kitchen appliances and any devices that use Freon (such as dehumidifiers, air conditioners and refrigerators). Freon devices can be responsibly disposed of for a $15 fee (per item) at the Recycling Center all year round

Acceptable items include:

  • Game consoles, TV monitors, computer monitors
  • cell phones, cable or satellite receivers, portable digital music players
  • keyboards, fax machines, servers, DVD and VCR players
  • Fluorescent light bulbs (NOT broken)

Some fees will apply (cash only): 

TVs and Computer Monitors (flat screen or CRT)

  • $10 for any screen up to 20"
  • $20 for any screen up to 40"
  • $30 for any screen 41" and larger

Fluorescent Bulbs are $1 each (any size)

Limited home pick-up is possible for residents who cannot lift or drive their items to the collection event; call 758-4606 (town residents) and 758-1081 (village residents). 

This is an annual event held in partnership with the Village of Red Hook and co-sponsored by Bard College's Center for Civic Engagement. Special thanks to the Town Highway Department, Recycling Center employees and Conservation Advisory Council volunteers who all put time and energy into making this event possible. 

Residents can purchase a Recycling Center sticker, to use the Center all year, for $15 from the Town Clerk's Office at 7340 South Broadway, or at the Recycling Center on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
